BFM fittings for quick and dust-tight flexible connections

Flexible couplings for process plants handling powders and granules

BFM® couplings offer an alternative to traditional flexible sleeves with clamps. The principle is simple: two custom-shaped spigots are welded securely to the system—on both the inlet and outlet sides—after which a flexible sleeve snaps into place between them, without any clamps, straps, or other fasteners.

Thanks to this snap-fit design, a sleeve can be installed or replaced in a matter of seconds, which significantly reduces downtime during maintenance, cleaning, or inspection.

Benefits

  • Installation and replacement without clamping tools
  • Completely dust-tight, hygienic connection
  • Limited risk of product buildup or loss
  • Resistant to vibrations and movement in the line
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Consistent, standardized sizing for a reliable fit

Typical Areas of Application

These couplings are primarily used at the interface between stationary and moving machine parts—precisely where a traditional sleeve with a tension band often falls short in terms of reliability or accessibility. Examples include:

  • Screening Systems and Vibrating Screens
  • Silos, hoppers, and bunkers
  • Weighing and Dosing Systems
  • Blenders and Mixers
  • Transport Systems and Supply Lines
  • Metal Detection Systems
  • Packaging and Filling Lines
  • Processing plants for powdered and granular products

A wide range of cuffs

Not every application requires the same sleeve. The choice of material and design depends on factors such as movement patterns, temperature, product properties, pressure or vacuum conditions, and the cleaning method. These include, among others:

  • Transparent sleeves for visually monitoring the product flow
  • Antistatic versions
  • Models suitable for vertical compression or horizontal movement
  • Models with anti-collapse features
  • Reinforced versions for higher pressure loads
  • Tapered pieces and reducers
  • Flexible options specifically designed for dosing and filling

Suitable for use in the food, pharmaceutical, and ATEX environments

For the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, there are specific sleeves with corresponding material certificates and declarations of conformity. Antistatic and ATEX-compliant versions are also available. The exact certification that applies depends on the chosen material, the sleeve type, and the specific conditions at the site.

We handle measurements, welding, and assembly

A properly functioning system depends entirely on correct measurements and precise positioning of the spigots. Our technicians come on-site to measure the installation, weld the spigots, and install the sleeves.
